After the snow of last week, it wasn't long before the slopes accessible from the resorts were all tracked out. Over the last 2 days, first with Michiel, and then Lori, I've been skinning up from the Tchuggi lift in Meiringen Hasliberg to reach the couloirs and open bowls that are clearly visible from the lifts and still offer fresh powder. Within half an hour, beautiful lines can be reached that can be skiied all the way back to the station. There's alot of wind-accumulated snow about, so it pays to choose your line carefully.
Two experiences stand out: with Lori, skinning atop the ridge and emerging out of a sea of cloud that was engulfing the resort, before making wide turns down a perfect couloir. The other, with Michiel on our last run of the day; having caught the last lift, skinning up as the sun burnt the peaks and clouds a fiery orange.
